Ohio Mother Charged After Police Say Seven Children Were Left in Vehicle During Visit to Gaming Spot

An Toledo woman is facing serious legal trouble after authorities say she left seven children unattended inside a vehicle while she entered a local gaming establishment for an extended period of time.

According to police, 37-year-old Racqual Hicks was taken into custody after officers responded to a situation involving children ranging in age from 15 years old down to just 11 months old.

Investigators say the children were left inside a parked vehicle outside Luna’s Internet Cafe for roughly 40 minutes while Hicks was inside the business.

Authorities also reported additional concerns during the stop. Officers say Hicks was allegedly operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license, and that several of the younger children were not properly secured in required child safety seats.

She now faces seven separate child endangerment charges — one tied to each child involved.

Court records show Hicks entered a not guilty plea and was later released under court supervision. As part of that release, she has been ordered to wear GPS monitoring while the case moves forward.

The case is drawing attention because it touches two issues often discussed in gambling-related family incidents: supervision breakdown and decision-making under pressure.

For HamptonINT, stories like this are bigger than headlines — they raise the question of how quickly poor choices can turn into criminal consequences when children are involved.

⚠️ No wager, no machine, no quick stop is worth a situation that can change a family overnight.
