House of Cards: SJPD Busts Repeat Gambling Den
The house doesn’t always win—especially when the San Jose Police Department is playing.
What looked like a quiet residential home on Cramer Circle was actually the front for a high-stakes illegal gambling operation, according to San Jose authorities. This week, police announced the arrest of 26-year-old Deon Nguyen, the man they believe was the mastermind behind the underground casino.
A Persistent Problem
This wasn’t the SJPD’s first visit to the Cramer Circle address. Back on December 30, 2025, officers raided the same location, arresting four individuals on various warrants and seizing gambling machines and narcotics.
However, the “business” didn’t stay closed for long. Despite the initial bust, investigators quickly realized the operation had rebooted. On April 7, officers served a second search warrant, once again hauling away illegal gambling machines.
The Investigation
Determined to stop the cycle of the illicit business returning, patrol officers dug deeper to find the person pulling the strings. The investigation eventually led them to Nguyen. After securing both search and arrest warrants, police took Nguyen into custody last week.
Why It Matters
Illegal gambling dens are often more than just “victimless” games. Police departments across the Bay Area have frequently linked these underground operations to secondary crimes, including drug trafficking and violent disputes. By identifying the “primary suspect” behind this specific den, the SJPD is hoping to shutter the Cramer Circle operation for good.
The arrest serves as a stern reminder to those operating under the radar: in San Jose, the stakes for running an illegal parlor are higher than the jackpot.
